STARLET ANN, Ockeechobee, FL
With a foal at her side and in foal,
this mare walked out of her hoof (below) on March 22, 2005
The owners were ready to put her down. They offered to let us take her & baby and continue treating her.
The mare came to us in foal, and with a 2 month old colt at her side.
She lost her in-utero foal due to the stress of this disease, but the colt is fine.
After two months of rebandaging twice dailey, she had her second debridement.
Once the soft laminae was removed, it revealed many kunkers underneath.
After this debridement took place, recovery went even more quickly.
She had finally turned the corner with recovery and was growing new hoof when xrays showed the coffin boned completely detached. Sadly, after surviving all that, she was euthanized. Her little colt was named for us; "Five Star Trooper". Being stall bound for so long with his Mom, He really was a trooper.
Note the "mangy" looking coat,
After applying Fungus Free for only one week it had totally grown back!
This is the result of the Pythium, not her rubbing or itching all of her hair off.
